Supporting Rangers in Uganda and the DRC

Rangers can live in very isolated areas of the protected areas making access to water and food very difficult. Also their jobs require them to join up with other rangers in order to patrol inaccessible places often vast distances apart. Until now they have had no transport. Now each ranger post has two bicycles.

Malaria is a common and deadly problem to the rangers and their families. UCF has with the help of the Born Free Foundation and the David Shepherd Foundation, helped these rangers in both Uganda and bordering Congo, with bicycles and mosquito nets. With less malaria affecting the rangers and their families more rangers are available to protect the wildlife and communities.
