"While in Murchison Falls National Park Carolyn De La Plain, a UK based Trustee of Uganda Conservation Foundation (UCF), was thrilled to bump into Joanna Lumley whose support for animal (and human) rights is well known. As warm and charming in person as her public image Joanna, who was filming in the area, expressed interest in the charity's work and particularly in the links with Born Free (of which she is a Patron), David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation and Tusk Trust all of who have generously supported UCF's projects.![]() "Joanna Lumley is here shown with Enid Kakooko, UCU's Administrative Officer, reading a copy of 'Uganda Matters', UCF's newsletter." Carolyn was in Uganda to review the charity's projects. During her 13 day trip, she met with corporate sponsors and Directors of UCU in Kampala and also spent 10 days on the road, covering over 2,000 kms, in visiting current and potential project sites - an experience which has put into perspective the logistical challenges of UCF's Ugandan team in supervising the projects. Carolyn's visit was made possible with the support of British Airways Communities & Conservation Scheme. |
