The Rufford Maurice Laing Foundation supports registered charities whose work is concerned with nature conservation, the environment, and sustainable development in non-first world countries. In 1999 the Rufford Foundation awarded the ECP project a small grant. This was the first grant and one that encouraged others to support the project.
