Brian Lubangakene

Veterinary Officer

Dr Brian Lubangakene is a Veterinary Officer with the Uganda Conservation Foundation, supporting wildlife health, veterinary interventions and conservation operations.

Brian holds a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (BVM) from Makerere University, completed in 2025, and is a licensed veterinary practitioner in Uganda. His professional interests include wildlife medicine, infectious disease prevention, biosecurity, animal welfare and the important connections between wildlife, livestock and human health.

Brian first worked with UCF while completing a wildlife veterinary internship with the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) and UCF in Murchison Falls National Park. He subsequently gained clinical experience as a resident veterinary doctor with The Big Fix Uganda Animal Hospital.

Now working with UCF, Brian supports field veterinary operations alongside UWA veterinary teams, contributing to wildlife monitoring, rescue and treatment, disease surveillance and practical One Health approaches across Uganda’s conservation landscapes.
