Project & Development Officer
Innocent Komakech is a wildlife biologist and UCF Project & Development Officer, permanently based in Kidepo Valley and the wider Karamoja landscape. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Health & Management from Makerere University.
For the past four years, Innocent has worked closely with the Uganda Wildlife Authority, supporting conservation operations across Kidepo and Karamoja. His work focuses particularly on countering threats to lions and other carnivores, combining field monitoring, rapid operational support, community engagement and intelligence from across this remote landscape.
An experienced EarthRanger operator, Innocent supports UWA’s growing use of digital technology for wildlife monitoring, incident response and operational coordination. He leads two Kidepo-based UCF field vehicles and teams, together with UCF’s network of carnivore scouts operating across Karamoja.
With extensive field knowledge and strong relationships with UWA, communities and conservation partners, Innocent provides an important permanent operational presence for UCF across the Kidepo–Karamoja landscape.
