Jerry Burley

Jerry has been involved on and off with conservation, and UCF in particular, for more than 20 years of his total of 35 years spent in Uganda, including being a director, chairman and benefactor to the Ugandan operation. He is now a trustee of the UK arm of the charity. A Chartered engineer by training, Jerry spent many years living in remote and challenging environments, working often alone for private and government organisations. To that end he is known for his ability to survive for weeks on end on tinned (often cold) Heinz baked beans and sweet bananas.

His extensive knowledge and understanding of Uganda means he brings a wealth of experience to the organisation. He has a particular interest in the training and development of local staff, and has successfully worked himself out of a number of jobs over the years as a result of this mantra.
